Party Details - Thursday 19th November 2015, 8PM, inside the Shopping Mall. Well it's Anti Bullying Week this week from the 16th to the 22nd of November 2015, we wanted to share some anti bullying tips and tricks. "I'm only chatting online, I might as well seeing as I won't get into trouble." - That's where you're wrong. Online or in real life, it's still bullying. As soon as that report button has been clicked, depending on how serious the bullying is, the POLICE could get involved.
So, what is bullying? - Bullying is where you are harming someone else or hurting their feelings deliberately. Examples of this include online, in real life, within games, in schools and so much more. What ways of bullying are there and how can we stop them? Unfortunately, many ways of bullying exist and millions of children are bullied everyday. 1 - Verbal Bullying: A word or phrase stated to make someone feel unhappy or uncomfortable. This could be calling someone a name, saying something which isn't nice to or about someone or their family / friends or even making a threat to someone. We can prevent the above happening by thinking before we speak. 2 - Physical Bullying: Hitting, kicking, spitting, or pulling someone's hair are all examples of physical bullying. Throwing an object at someone to cause harm or offence to that person (or group) is also physical bullying. It is also physical bullying to actually touch someone. We can prevent the above happening by thinking about personal space and thinking of how you would like it if physical bullying happened to you. 3 - Digital and Online - Bullying happening digital or online is also known as "cyberbullying". This could be an offensive text message, email, chat message on a game, or even a comment on a blog post. (That's why we check and approve all of our comments) Not only that, but sharing someone elses photo or editing one, prank calling, pretending to be someone online (impersonating for short) is a form of cyberbullying. We can prevent the above happening by NOT SENDING offensive messages, NOT PRETENDING to be someone that isn't you, NOT using someone elses photo, and NOT prank calling. 4 - Social - Social bullying includes ruining someone's reputation or relationship on purpose. Examples of doing this include telling people not to be friends with someone, spreading rumours about someone, embarrassing someone in public (and online) and leaving someone out of a group on purpose. Forcing someone to join a bad group is also a form of social bullying. YOU OR A FRIEND BEING BULLIED? DON'T STAND FOR IT If you or a friend are being bullied then talk to your parents, teachers or another trusted adult that you know well (this doesn't mean you should approach a stranger in public that look trustworthy - some strangers can be dangerous). If the bullying is happening online, do NOT delete it. You might need it for evidence. However, where possible you should block contact with the person and still tell a trusted adult. Always remember bullying is NOT acceptable. It is wrong to make someone feel upset. It is wrong for someone to make you upset or uncomfortable. All schools or education study centres will have an anti-bullying policy. Why not ask your teacher or tutor about it this week? Online social media and games will have strict rules about bullying. You will often find that you can block, report and ignore users online if they are taking part in bullying.
