Memories from Bin Weevils as a Weevil of The Week winner...Memories from Weevil World as a Weevil of The Week winner...Hi there, Weevils. It's beano150 here with a special post. On Monday, 16th April 2018 I won the Weevil of The Week overall position! I have won runner up in the past, but I feel that actually winning overall deserves a dedicated blog post. So here it is.
Above, you can see two galleries; my Bin Weevils memories and my Weevil World memories during the week I was a Weevil of The Week. This post is being published on the day before I hand over the crown to a new winner, but it's almost over now and it's been a fantastic experience. Not one Weevil at Flum's has been insulting or rude, nor has anyone on Weevil World. Some Weevils were asking me the same question, and now I will be answering them here, for everyone to see, despite having already answered those Weevils myself. What is your favourite thing about winning Weevil of The Week?: Whilst it's all good, my favourite things are being supersized and replying to the super kind comments congratulating me on the Weevil News blog post (you can see that official blog post right here) The week has been great, and I've wanted to win Weevil of The Week for ages, so this means a lot to me. Whilst my turn of being Weevil of The Week expires tomorrow, the memories and pictures of actually winning will stay with me forever and ever, and I hope the next winner, and runner ups, enjoy their week of winning. Thanks! -beano150 Hello, Weevils! It is beano150 here and I have some great news for Weevil World players! A brand new update has rolled out on Weevil World, introducing new membership features. Members on Weevil World can use glow-in the dark items and clothes found in the Clothes Shop and in the new cave area in the treasure hunt game. Members also get a Nest light switch to enable glow in the dark items. Glow in the dark items and clothes look like this when the Nest light is turned off: As well as that, members will now receive weekly items on Weevil World as a gift for being a member. The gifts are random, so not everyone will receive the same gift. This makes it something to be surprised by, instead of knowing what gifts are coming your way via blog posts or in-game newspaper slides. A message is received to inform players that they have a gift waiting for them. This is the message on the gift tag and the gift that I received: Another perk of the membership package is an exclusive door frame for your Nest. To be fair, whilst this looks pretty neat, I don't see the real advantage to it. It does glow in the dark, and that's all well and good. However, it would be better if we could customise the door frame with different colours and possibly different designs, and be given the option to keep the door frame on or take it off. You can see the door frame glowing in the dark in the first image I have used in this blog post. This is what it looks like not glowing in the dark: Another part of the Weevil World membership package is the ability to purchase exclusive items and clothes in the shops - these are not limited to just glow in the dark ones. I don't mind this right now, not as many items seem to be locked to members than Bin Weevils has. This is an example of a few of the items, which can be identified as member-only items with the membership logo for Weevil World (the globe icon): Bonuses & PricingWhilst I've gone through nearly all of the new member features, there is more to come according to the post announcing Weevil World membership on the official Weevil News blog.
On top of everything listed above, members will receive 5 Dosh every day on Weevil World. This can be collected via either game, Bin Weevils or Weevil World. First Dosh collections will result in 500 Dosh being received, helping out on shopping sprees for sure! After that, it will be 5 Dosh a day. To my knowledge, these 5 Dosh sums can stack over several days meaning if you forget to collect the 5 Dosh for 3 days for example, you've got 15 Dosh waiting for you. One confusing thing to me is the fact that membership is £4.95 on the website and £5.99 on the Android app. But that's nothing much of a big deal, you can simply subscribe in-game on the Weevil World website or Bin Weevils Membership website for £4.95. The great news is you won't be paying twice for both games - one subscription gives you full member access to Bin Weevils and Weevil World. My buddy Mr Macow has suggested the price difference may be different due to app stores taking a cut of the in-app purchases. Overall, I really like this update. To improve I'd perhaps offer free trials to players that have never had membership before, and keep pricing the same to make it less confusing. Other than that, a great update! Thanks for reading this post, and please do comment with your opinions on this update. Over and out! -beano150 Hi there, Weevils!
It's beano150 here and oh boy, what a great Christmas I had. I hope you had a Christmas just as fun as I had! I got loads of great goodies which you hopefully have seen, if you follow me on Twitter. My favourite present is my new Dennis jumper! One Christmas present Weevil World gave me though, is a very exciting competition winning entry. I won (as a runner up), Weevil of The Week! You can check it all out in the slideshows above. Also a big congratulations to the main winner 402crabbycloud, and all of the other runner up winners, especially monty200 who is a great friend of mine. Have a Weevily week and a Bin Tastic New Year! Hey there, Weevils! It's beano150 here, and have I got excited news for you? Of course I have! The next bit of Weevily maintenance has begun on Weevil World! How exciting! As you can see above, Crazy Pool is on the way to the tropical island we all know and love, that is Weevil World. Pool is a popular Bin Weevils game, so this is a great move indeed.
Today (Friday, 8th December 2017) is the day that the maintenance set shown above went live on the game (to my knowledge). Tink was also there when I discovered it (again, as shown above) and seemed to be away from keyboard so he might have been collecting images for a preview post this weekend. I hope so, but remember I don't know for sure so don't take that as a confirmation, because it isn't one. Hopefully there will be one this weekend though, I've got my Weevily antennas crossed! In my personal opinion, this looks like it will be much better than the pool hall on Bin Weevils. After all, new and fresh is always good! All that's left for me to say now is thank you for reading and have a Weevily great weekend! See you in the Weevily world of Weevil World and Bin Weevils! - beano150 Hello and welcome to a new blog! It is beano150 here and I will be reviewing the December highlights for Weevil World and Bin Weevils. Let's begin with Weevil World... In the order as listed above, I will now review the Weevil World highlights based on my personal opinion. Please do remember you're not obliged to agree and this is just my thoughts! Nest Coolness - This is similar to how rooms are rated in another game 55 Pixels has available, Crater Craft. Players simply rate nests and have the ability to walk around the nest room before giving a rating. If they are the first Weevil to rate, they earn 50 Mulch. If not, they earn a varied amount of Mulch depending on how close, how far off they have rated or if they've rated spot on. Overall it's a good feature, there are other features (like games) on Weevil World better than it but it's not bad. New Weather Forecast - This looks like snow is falling in the tropical island of Weevil World! It's great to see this, as December means Christmas and Christmas (should) means snow! New Nest Items - The items look cool, I am hoping they don't cost a lot of Dosh or a lot of them cost Mulch. New Woolly Hats - This is my favourite hat collection on Weevil World to date! I love the panda one! Best Dressed Festive Edition - This looks cool. I doubt I'll have a three month winning streak (I won in October and November), but it's great to see the same competition run for three months in a row with different themes. Hmm, I wonder if the Best Dressed competition is a permanent feature to Weevil World now, considering we've had it for a few moths in a row?... Pool - This is great! Not only is pool my favourite multiplayer Bin Weevils game, it's coming to Weevil World so I'll be able to play it on the go! It looks like it'll be renamed to Crazy Pool, hence the name on the building. Oh yeah, it's getting a location for it and everything! Awesome! KOTB / WOTW - This is by far looking to be the BEST UPDATE TO DATE on Weevil World. Now before you go and say they've got the game wrong for it to be sent to, at least it's actually coming! You wanted it, and you're getting it. It may not be the same as the old bin version and it looks like it'll be replaced to Weevil of the Week (from KOTB; King of the bin) which makes sense considering Weevil World fortunately is not a bin. It's a nice tropical island. I can't wait to see how this will work, and even if I don't end up winning the contest, I will be as happy as Larry to give it a go! Total rating for Weevil World this December: 4/5; everything is top notch, but I feel they could've included an advent calendar on Weevil World as well as Bin Weevils. It would make sense since some players will only play Weevil World and not Bin Weevils, for instance if they only play via the app. Other than that, a fantastic month as always. Over to Bin Weevils now!... Winter Wonderland - For new players, this is brilliant. Winter Wonderland consists of a super antenna tent, Christmas shop, ice rink, build your own snow weevil hunt, and a mission. However if you've experienced it in the past then it's all the same really, I only went in the area for a few minutes before leaving, but I'll probably spend a little more time in it eventually, just not as much as I did when the area opened for the first time a few years ago.
Best Nest Seasonal Bonus Plaque - It's okay, but it's something I believe we have had in the past and I think you get this plaque anyway during the "normal" months. I definitely have one or two, and the only difference is one version of the plaque has a Santa hat on whilst the other doesn't (I don't have the Santa hat one). Advent Calendar - The rewards are the same as past years, but you get a fair amount of Mulch, Dosh and XP. I'd include new items to improve this. Total rating for Bin Weevils this December: 2/5; Weevil World is by far the best month this month. Still, festive fun can still be had by logging into Weevil World throughout the month! Thank you for reading my review! -beano150 Hi there, Weevils! It's beano150 here with another review. This time I will be reviewing the November update on Weevil World, so here goes! As you can see in the images above (you can click on them to zoom), Weevil World has now received a feature that was much anticipated on Bin Weevils, automatic weather updating! This feature works by giving you a weather forecast board, which is updated weekly. This is accessed by clicking or tapping on the weather forecast balloon, located on the main street in the game. For November, a set of colourful bathroom items is released every time there is a rainbow in the sky. I personally think this is a nice touch as bright colours associate with rainbows, and this also ties in with the November 'best dressed' competition (more on that later in the post). One thing I would change about this set of items, however, is the fact every item costs Dosh. Now, I have no objection on charging Dosh for some items but every item in the set (so far) that I have seen costs Dosh. To make it even and fair, a few items should cost Mulch and the rest cost Dosh. As well as what I've gone through so far, Weevil World has also received a nice 'Brilliant Britain' Holiday Home item set. To accompany this, a Brilliant Britain outfit has also been released in the Clothes shop. You can see a preview of this, as I'm wearing the Brilliant Britain shirt in the screenshots I have provided above. The next part of the update is a Best Dressed competition where players must dress to impress with a colourful look during November to be in with a chance of winning an exclusive 'Best Dressed' item and a rainbow hoodie. I have to say I like the idea of this and a bunch of the same already previously available clothes have been re-released in the Clothes shop but with different colours. I can only assume this is because of how this competition works. One thing I would improve here is have a colour wheel on the clothes instead, like in Nestco on Bin Weevils. This would save excessive walking and browsing time in the shop. Winter clothes are also scheduled to be released, which will hopefully be colourful as well, therefore counting towards the competition. Finally, we have been treated with a few new options in the settings: As you can see, we are now able to set our buddy requests to be turned off or turned on, whichever you prefer. As well as this you can set game invites to buddies only, everyone, or block them completely.
One thing I will say is the game invites feature is brilliant, as I don't get spammed with game requests from the several newly registered Weevils that are all over the game (no offence intended; in fact a lot of the newly registered Weevils can be very competitive and enjoyable to play games with). The buddy requests feature only applies to Weevil World which means people can still send you requests via Bin Weevils. If this is made to apply to both games or the feature was introduced to Bin Weevils as well, this would work better and solve the annoyance issue of receiving buddy requests when your list is full. To conclude, this update is rather good. There are a few things that could be improved a bit, which I have mentioned where necessary in the post, but overall this is a great update. Until next time! -beano150 Howdy, Weevils! An exciting Saturday update has rolled out on Weevil World. It is now possible to purchase Dosh top ups directly within the Weevil World app - and compared to the Bin Weevils website available top ups, the Weevil World options are priced better. Here are the prices: As you can see, the cheapest option on Weevil World is £1.99. This seems like more than Bin Weevils but if you look at it another way, it really isn't. Setting you down just £1.99 will credit 150 Dosh into your Weevil account, whereas £2 (2 x 10 Dosh top ups) on Bin Weevils only gets you 20. £4.99, which is really just £1.04 more than the second option on Bin Weevils gets you 375 Dosh, £3.95 is only worth a 50 Dosh top up with Bin Weevils. If you decide to push out to just under £10, you will get 1000 Dosh on Weevil World or 150 Dosh on Bin Weevils. And if you want to break the bank for just below £20, you'll be given 2,500 Dosh when purchased with Weevil World or 360 Dosh with Bin Weevils. Note: The £9.99 option on Weevil World may become 750 Dosh and the £19.99 option could become 1,500. These have strikes through what I assume to be the "normal" top up amount, and these might just be introductory offers - it is unclear at this moment in time. From a chat with unicron7022 recently, he confirmed Dosh top ups and membership are going to be featured in the app: So there you have it. Membership may well be the next thing coming in terms of in-app purchases. I wonder if this will be cheaper than the Bin Weevils Dosh top ups, or if the prices on the Bin Weevils membership page will be changed to match the new prices on Weevil World? I only hope so.
The fact the Dosh is cheaper on Weevil World (or, at least, better value for money) is a good thing. There are other advantages of the in-app purchases for Dosh on Weevil World as well, including... - It's more convenient, you can pay from your phone or tablet within an app, no need to log-into the Bin Weevils website on your phone, tablet, laptop. - It has more payment methods; PayPal, phone billing (like O2 Billing), Google Play credit or simply just your bank card registered with your Google Play account (sorry, Apple users, I don't know how your billing methods work!) Will I be using this Dosh top up feature? Well, that depends. If I run low on Dosh and really want an item(s) or clothing, that I cannot afford, then maybe. But I try not to spend too much money on app purchases, so maybe I'll use my Google Opinion Rewards credit for Dosh top ups instead. Thanks for reading! -Beano150 Now you know about this cool Weevil World update, why not log into Weevil World today? You can find the web client version to play worldwide here, and using your smart devices in the UK you can download the Android version here, and the Apple version here.
